Its activities are managed across three main segments: operations within the United States, operations in Canada, and market optimization efforts. The company holds significant resource plays, notably in the Permian Basin of West Texas, the Anadarko Basin in west-central Oklahoma, and the Montney region spanning northeastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta. Additional upstream holdings include the Bakken formation in North Dakota, the Uinta Basin in central Utah, the Horn River Basin in northeastern British Columbia, and Wheatland in southern Alberta. Ovintiv Inc. was formed in 2020, the same year it adopted its current name, having previously been known as Encana Corporation. Its corporate headquarters are located in Denver, Colorado.
